The bike was not locked.
I found this bike in the backyard of the house where I was helping to move my friend. This bike was missing its seat and thus unrideable. It was not locked and covered with snow.
Bike reused as a gate.
This bike has been here for quite a long time. I think it is a cool idea to reuse bikes like this and I suppose that the gate is also quite functional.
These winter wonders are coming in pairs! This poor fellow was found drowned by the ice masses just 20 meters from the previous one. I suppose the water level is low in the winter time and all kind of garbage comes up. Who knows how long these bikes have been in the river.
The river Aurajoki seems to be filled with bikes. This one is almost completely covered by the ice.

This baby is well on its way to the archaeological context. It is lying on the bank of the Aurajoki river in Turku. Nothing is really missing but it’s not going anywhere since the spokes on the wheels are cut and its pretty badly rusted all over. I would say that this one is the firts truly abandoned bicycle on the blog. It will make its way into the bottom of the river once all that ice is gone.

The first Turku bike! This Helkama Velotar is missing the rear tire. It’s unsure if this bike has been abandoned at all. It may just as well be waiting for repair.

These fellows don’t really get a v.i.p. treatment. This has been in the same place for quite a long time, at least 4 weeks. I’m really not sure if the owner really wants it anymore. It is just the front wheel which is bended.
This green Crescent was found near the Kamppi subway station. The most interesting little detail about it is the sticker on the frame saying “I PARK MY FILLARI (finnish for ‘bicycle’) LIKE A FUCKING IDIOT”. This parking was no exception. Even though (or more likely because) the bike is locked to a structure with a cable lock, it has lost both its wheels.

There isn't too much left of this Joutsen bike.
This Joutsen (Swan) Original was found near the Kalasatama subway station, which has been in use from 2007. So this means that the deposition of the bike has a terminus post quem in this location 2007 AD. It seems that the bike has been mostly suffering vandalism, because the frame could have been taken with ease.
